Welcome, where our doors are open to all in building a spiritual community!
Pastor's Corner
Do you ever stop to watch a dog react to the beach? It seems they just touch the sand and that’s it, there is no end to the kind of exploring, leaping, rolling, reveling that might happen. I often wonder what in their heads, hearts, souls gets touched to set it all into motion. I don’t have to know what makes it happen, though, to enjoy watching it. And watching the action I can’t help but have my heart lightened and loosened – it just happens.
My friends, my sense is that our God invites us to be in the beauty and challenge of life with that same kind of active curiosity and engagement. The Holy One has prepared the palette – as full of possibility and wonder as that beach – and even more accessible, it is the every day, every place, every moment of our lives. We don’t need to get to Plum Island in time for a parking spot. We don’t need to wait through endless cycles of the traffic lights in Salisbury Square. We need simply to look around where ever we are and with whom ever we are with – and in the ordinary and extraordinary God has prepared a place for us to explore, revel, react, engage.
This is an amazing and life giving invitation – and one which it seems many are unaware. Instead of the hope, love and wonder of our God many are stuck in fear, scarcity, consumerism and materialism – not hard to get to those places – life is full of challenge and marketing is a powerful tool. And I get to write a note and invite others to connect with the community of hope that is Main Street Church – to proclaim that there are people who have discovered and who are working to discover and connect to the awe, wonder, grace of God – people who are committed to shine love into the hurting and dark places of live, people who haven’t got it all figured out but have a sense that there is a reason for hope and wonder, people who realize none of us can do it alone but we need the support of others even as there is challenge in being in community.
We are gathered and supported by our God who will not let us go – our God who enables so much and far more then we can ever imagine or that we could ever do on our own. We open our hearts and doors to any who want to learn more, experience the mystery and hope of God’s love, who seek to find a place to give/serve in the world. We don’t have all the answers. We are not perfect. But we are seeking to explore God’s love, build community and serve God’s world with that same abandon as the dog on the beach – and we are eager to share that with you.
Join us for worship Sunday’s at 10 am. Connect with us on facebook. Give me a call and share a cup of coffee. Stick your toe in as you are ready – and be washed in a grace and hope beyond human understanding – God is waiting for you to receive God’s love – we are waiting to help make that connection.
In peace –Joan
